6 Hair Salon Openings Making Waves

The salon world is shifting, and owners are moving, adding and creating new types of spaces to meeting hairstyling needs. Here are six salon shifts coming from major names — from John Barrett, to Sally Hershberger. John Barrett Salon John Barrett is going to be leaving its long-held home at Bergdorf Goodman for a new space at 36 East 57th Street, according to industry sources.  Oscar Blandi Oscar Blandi is opening its first downtown New York salon at the end of April. Located at 111 Murray Street in TriBeCa, the space will have 10 full-service stations and was designed by Massimo Pizzoleo. Blandi’s current salon at 545 Madison Avenue will remain open. Sally Hershberger A rendering of Sally Hershberger’s Hudson Yards space.  Sally Hershberger is opening two new salons, including a new 25-chair flagship location at Hudson Yards in New York on March 15. Hershberger’s salon is being designed and built by Lafayette Compton, the same designer that did the downtown salon. As part of the new opening, Mylene Tagournet has returned to the business.
