ColourPop Brunch Date Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Brunch Date
Colour Pop Brunch Date 12-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($16.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a more rose-leaning set of neutrals paired with a pop of blue. It wasn’t cool-toned, but it definitely seemed cooler and more muted compared to the majority of neutral palettes that we’ve seen over the last few years. The blue might be eye-catching, but it was a disappointment with respect to quality; and on a subjective note, it was hard to incorporate with the other shades because it ran so cool-toned and was a drier matte formula. I also felt like French Toast and Extra Slice ended up being rather redundant in this palette, too, and that was never more apparent than putting the two next to each other and getting a big, muddied mess.
Champagne Toast
Champagne Toast is a bright beige with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had buildable pigmentation from semi-opaque to opaque coverage (two layers) that applied evenly and blended out easily along the edges. The consistency felt more loosely pressed in the pan but didn’t result in fallout during application. It stayed on well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview
$5.00/0.05 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours. The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Pancakes Please
Pancakes Please is a light, golden bronze with warm undertones and a bright, metallic sheen. The texture was incredibly soft and almost cream-like, but it looked a bit dry when applied to my lid–almost like my lid “ate” the shimmer and gave it a more faded sheen. The pigmentation was opaque and lasted well for eight hours on me before it started to fade visibly.

French Toast
French Toast is a rich burgundy with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented with a smooth, velvety texture that was blendable without being too powdery nor too firmly pressed in the pan. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Skinny Latte
Skinny Latte is a light-medium, peachy coral with warm undertones and a sparkling sheen. The texture was more loosely-pressed and felt drier than other shades in the palette, which resulted in slight fallout during application. It had good pigmentation but needed two layers for full opacity. It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before it started to fade.

Cinnamon Sugar
Cinnamon Sugar is a medium-dark copper with warm, brown undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The consistency was more loosely-pressed, so there was some excess product that came loose when I used it and some fallout during application if I didn’t really press and pat it onto my lid first. The color payoff was opaque in one layer, and it lasted well for eight hours on me.

Mimosa
Mimosa is a muted, medium-dark rosy copper with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff, which built up to full coverage with less than half of a layer on top. The consistency was soft, lightly dusty in the pan, but blendable and easy to work with on my lid. It wore well for eight hours before it started to show signs of wear.

Maple Syrup is a muted, peachy orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation in one layer, which adhered well to bare skin and blended out easily along the edges without sheering out the color too readily. Sundae Funday
Sundae Funday is a bright plum with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with two to three layers, but it was best applied with a dampened brush or a fingertip. The texture was emollient and felt like it had more silicones in it, giving it slip and creaminess but making it harder to apply evenly and blend out along the edges seamlessly. It lasted well for eight hours on me before it started to fade visibly.

Sunny Side Up is a bright, pinky-peachy with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had rich color payoff that adhered well to my lid with a smooth, even application. Americano
Americano is a muted, medium earthy brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a soft, lightly powdery texture that had some excess product that kicked up in the pan, but the eyeshadow blended out easily and didn’t sheer out too readily. It stayed on well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Brunch Club
Brunch Club is a medium-dark cobalt blue with strong, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a drier, more powdery texture that was prone to sheering out and had some fallout. It did not apply evenly without a primer underneath it, and it was hard to get it to look good as a standalone shade as a result. It lasted well for eight hours on me before it started to fade visibly.

Extra Slice
Extra Slice is a deep, reddish-brown with subtle, cool undertones and flecks of gold sparkle over a matte finish. It ended up looking mostly matte in practice as most of the shimmer seemed to get lost as I blended out the product on my skin. The pigmentation was nearly opaque and buildable, but there was slight fallout due to the texture being so finely-milled and a bit powdery.
