EXCLUSIVE: Sephora Promotes Deborah Yeh, Karalyn Smith

Deborah Yeh has been promoted to chief marketing officer at Sephora, and Karalyn Smith has been promoted to chief people officer. Yeh, a proponent of personalized beauty experiences for Sephora, has been with the company since 2012. Most recently, she was senior vice president of marketing and brand at the beauty retailer, and has focused on Sephora’s brand experience, centered around the chain’s concept of “Let’s Beauty Together.” Yeh was promoted in 2015 to the senior vice president of marketing role, and spent the past year implementing the company’s new loyalty strategy. Yeh also oversaw Sephoria, Sephora’s first beauty festival. Before Sephora, Yeh spent four years in marketing for Gap Inc. She’s also held positions at Target. Smith was most recently senior vice president of human resources at Sephora. There, she launched the company’s workplace flexibility program, built out the maternity program for the field organization, and has expanded charitable programs like Sephora Cares, which provides employee education and resources for people affected by domestic violence.
