Love Nectar

MAC Love Nectar Lipglass ($17.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a soft, light-medium peach (with warmer, more orange-leaning undertones) paired with faint gold, pink, and lavender pearl. The pigmentation was semi-opaque, and for as light as it was, the color actually went on quite evenly. There was slight product that sat in some of my deeper lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance (just in the close-up photo). The texture was smooth, moderately sticky, and plush–a bit thicker and denser but didn’t feel overly heavy or “glue-like.” It wore well for four and a half hours and was moisturizing over time.

Formula Overview

The Lipglass formula is supposed to be “pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic color” that can be worn “on its own, over lip pencil or lipstick” and will “condition lips.” MAC could use an update on the description as some shades are more pigmented than others but several are sheerer and likely intended to be that way. The formula has a very glossy, high-shine finish with a light-medium weight and moderate tackiness.

I have found that newer Lipglasses (over the last couple of years) are smoother and not quite as tacky as the formula was many years ago. They wear from three to six hours on me and are usually lightly hydrating. MAC recently updated the shade range and packaging for the range (though the formula was said to be unchanged), so worth noting is that with that packaging change came a reduction in quantity to 0.10 fl. oz. (was 0.17 fl. oz.), which may matter for some but not everyone.

MAC Pretty Peppa Lipglass ($17.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a medium-dark, reddened plum with subtle, warm undertones and warmer, coppery-gold pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly, but some product gathered into my lip lines; the high-shine finish made it harder to notice at a normal viewing distance. The texture was smooth, moderately tacky, and thicker, though I didn’t find it heavy on myself (but I recognize I might be more used to Lipglass at this point in my life!). I always find it such a comfortable, hydrating formula to wear, and it has better-than-average wear at five hours.
