Mental Health Initiatives Inside Beauty & Fashion Companies

Companies are making products to raise awareness for mental health, and at the same time, some of them are undertaking initiatives to promote mental health among their employees. Coty Inc. Coty is offering employees a yearlong subscription to Headspace, a meditation app. The business also has two in-house health and wellness coaches, and offers up to five free therapy sessions. The Estée Lauder Cos. Lauder has an Employee Assistance Program that can be used by employees and family members under which the company provides confidential counseling, 24-hour crisis services, wellness resources and referrals to deal with stress management and other issues. The company also has a mindfulness program called Whil where employees can take online courses in emotional intelligence, mindfulness and yoga. Becca Cosmetics, a Lauder-owned brand, has committed to “Wellness Hour” — not having meetings between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. during work days — in order to give employees time during the day for themselves. Starting May 15, the brand will also be partnering with Shine, a mental health app that sends users inspirational messages.
