What to Watch: 9 Prestige Beauty Launches for Fall

Can an influx of launches stimulate the prestige market? Prestige beauty has experienced little growth over the past year, according to data from The NPD Group. The $18.7 billion market saw the most growth in the hair category, which grew 19 percent to $790 million from August 2018 to July 2019, according to NPD. Skin care was the second fastest-growing category, up 6 percent to $5.7 billion, followed by fragrance, which plateaued at $4.4 billion. Makeup became the worst-performing sector, falling 5 percent to $7.8 billion. As the numbers might suggest, prestige beauty is due for a makeover. Here, WWD highlights some of the key launches hitting the market this fall. Byredo Slow Dance by Byredo  Bohman & Sjöstrand Ab The newest from Byredo is Slow Dance, a genderless eau de parfum incorporating notes of opoponax, aka sweet myrrh; geranium; violet; vanilla, and patchouli. The scent, which launched earlier this week, retails for $260 for 100-ml. and $165 for 50-ml.
