Sugarpill Fun Size Mini Color Palette Review & Swatches
Fun Size
Sugarpill Fun Size 9-Pan Mini Color Palette ($28.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a slim, travel-friendly palette of brighter pops of matte eyeshadow that range from richer pastels like aqua and lavender to vivid hues of orange-red and fuchsia. The formula was a little thinner and drier than most matte formulas on the market, which made them less prone to fallout and had better adhesion with pigmentation that ranged from semi-opaque to opaque but was often easily built up. There were a few shades that could have been better and did improve over primer.
Each shade contains 0.025 oz., which is significantly smaller than the brand’s typical eyeshadow (0.10 oz.), but it’s a great size for anyone who has a few palettes or doesn’t go through eyeshadow easily. Sugarpill full-sized eyeshadows retail for $13.00 and contain 0.10 oz. or run $130.00/oz. (Sugarpill’s eyeshadows are much larger than the standard eyeshadow, which tends to be 0.05 oz.). The entire palette contains 0.225 oz. of product or $29.25 worth of eyeshadow. The “value” is in getting nine shades for less than the price of three individual shades.
Cheat Code
Cheat Code is a medium, green-leaning aqua with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was nearly opaque in a single layer, and it built up to full coverage with less than a second layer. The texture was soft, a smidgen dusty in the pan, but it applied evenly and blended out well over bare skin. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.

8-Bit is a light, periwinkle blue with strong, cool (almost violet) undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a smooth, slightly firmer texture that was easy to pick up without getting a lot of powderiness. I think the firmer texture worked well for this type of color and finish as it made it a cinch to build up the product and blend it without blending it all away. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading visibly.

Player One
Player One is a medium-dark lavender with subtle, warm pink undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was semi-opaque and buildable, but I’d recommend using it over an eyeshadow primer to ensure opacity and better hold. The consistency was lightly powdery in the pan with a touch of fallout during application. It blended out nicely and lasted well for seven and a half hours on me before I noticed signs of wear.

Twitch
Twitch is a pale green with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was buildable but was not opaque without a good primer to boost it up. The texture was drier, a little powdery, and it did cling to dryness on my skin (again, primer would be beneficial with this shade). I was able to apply and blend it out evenly, though, and it stayed on decently for seven and a half hours on me.

Level Up
Level Up is a medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which was easily built up to full coverage with less than half of a layer. The eyeshadow had a smooth, slightly firmer texture that was thin but applied well to bare skin and blended out without difficulty. It wore well for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Rage Quit
Rage Quit is a brighter, medium fuchsia pink with moderate, cool undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had rich pigmentation in a single layer that went on evenly. The texture felt firmer and was thinner than most matte eyeshadows these days, but it still picked up well on a brush and blended out easily on my skin. I find that firmer mattes tend to retain their vibrancy better (with or without primer) and last longer, which was true of this shade as it didn’t start to fade until the eight and a half hour mark.

Continue
Continue is a deep yellow with muted, warm undertones and a matte finish. It appeared more chartreuse (a greenish-yellow) in the pan, but it ended up looking like a darker, muted yellow in practice. The consistency felt a little drier and lightly powdery, though it wasn’t prone to fallout during application. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before fading visibly.

High Score
High Score is a bright, tangerine orange with strong, warm yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage but needed another layer to build up to full pigmentation. The texture felt drier and a bit dusty in the pan, and I felt like it darkened and lost some of its vibrancy when applied on my skin–even over primer. The thinness also resulted in it being more prone to emphasizing any imperfections on my lid. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours before I noticed signs of fading.

Game Over
Game Over is a brighter, medium-dark red-orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was firmer but not too stiff, so it picked up well with a brush and translated well onto bare skin. It had opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and blended out easily along the edges. The eyeshadow lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.
