Guerlain Names New CEO

Guerlain will soon have a new chief executive officer, WWD has learned. Véronique Courtois, currently brand general director at Parfums Christian Dior and a member of its executive committee, is poised to take up the position on Nov. 1. Courtois, who logged 10 years at the beauty brand, “demonstrated skills of creativity, audacity and leadership,” Claude Martinez, ceo of Parfums Christian Dior, said in an internal announcement seen by WWD. “She always put vision and excellence in the development of Dior’s creations, from the products to online and off-line advertising and services spread into the world, as well as constructive synergies with Dior Couture.” Martinez also has oversight over Guerlain, and noted Courtois’ successor would be revealed in due course. Courtois spent a decade at Guerlain as a marketing director before joining Christian Dior Parfums. She started her career at Beauté Prestige International and spent eight years with the Shiseido group before joining Guerlain at LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the French luxury group whose businesses span from fashion and leather goods to wines and spirits. At Guerlain, Courtois succeeds Laurent Boillot, who is to take over as the new ceo of Maison Hennessy in early 2020. He starts at the cognac house next month
