NARS All Access Powermatte Lip Pigment Trio ($45.00 for 0.54 oz.) is a new, limited edition trio that features two new, exclusive shades and one shade from the permanent range (American Woman). The liquid lipsticks are housed in a red-sequinned bag that has a gold, metal zipper and pull that has “NARS” and “54” attached to the larger zipper pull.
When the Powermatte Lip Pigment formula is good, it’s really good, and when it’s not, it tends to hover in the middle of all things liquid lipstick. This set was more of the latter–the best performing shade was American Woman, which is part of the permanent line-up, while the two new shades had room for improvement. It contains $78.00 worth of product, and the included bag is quite large, so it was a good value.
Fly Robin Fly
Fly Robin Fly is a slightly muted, medium-dark coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was just shy of full coverage in one layer, so I’d recommend going back with a bit extra to apply to the areas that needed it. The formula has a longer dry down, and it did seem to separate along my deeper lip lines do that, but it wasn’t the most emphasizing liquid lipstick formula I’ve tried (especially for this mid-tone shade).
The consistency was thin, fluid, and spreadable, but I’d recommend using careful strokes to ensure crisp lines. It lasted well for five hours and felt neither drying nor hydrating while worn.

The new formula is described as “liquefied pigments with infinite matte color saturation for lasting, weightless wear.” It’s supposed to have “full coverage in one swipe” that “dries down instantly” for “smudge-resistant, carefree wear.” The formula has a very fluid consistency that is thin, smooth, but not at all watery, and the majority of shades were nearly opaque or opaque in a single layer.
The dry down started quickly but was forgiving as I maneuvered around the edges of the lips but remained a bit tacky when I pressed my lips together for over a half hour later, though as long as I did not press my lips together until five minutes post-application, the color did not lift. I have found the wear to be comfortable so far–non-drying–but not the longest-wearing nor the most budge-proof in liquid lipstick, as just sipping water, tea, or coffee caused color to transfer onto my cups.
There was plenty of coverage, so it still lasted through drinking but did start to break down noticeably during a meal. Even just touching the color after a half hour of wearing it yielded color on my fingertips. The formula had a soft, vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

American Woman
American Woman is a medium, rosy mauve with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation with a smooth, fluid texture that was a little thinner/too spreadable, so I had to be careful when working with it to maintain precise lines.
The product took a minute or so to dry down, and I find that after 15-25 seconds, if I gently press my lips together, it accelerates the dry down. The color stayed on well for five and a half hours and was non-drying over time.

Funkytown
Funkytown is a bright, neon orange-red with warm undertones and a flat, matte finish. The liquid lipstick yielded nearly opaque coverage in one layer, which applied evenly as the formula was spreadable, thin, and fairly lightweight. The downside was that it dried down and emphasized my lip texture so much that my lips looked shriveled up! It felt a bit clingy, too, so it wasn’t comfortable to wear over the six hours it wore for. The formula felt somewhat drying over time.
