Pat McGrath Galactic Gold MTHRSHP Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Galactic Gold
Pat McGrath Galactic Gold MTHRSHP Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.42 oz.) is a new, ultra limited edition palette that features six eyeshadows (three repromotes, three new and exclusive to the palette) housed in Star Wars-themed packaging. All six shades had shimmer to them, and while it worked on its own (assuming one doesn’t mind all shimmer!), it would certainly be more versatile when paired with another palette or products you own. The quality was there across all six shades; they were smooth, easy to work with, blendable, and long-wearing with excellent coverage.
Galactic Gold
Galactic Gold is a light gold with strong, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer with a soft, lightly creamy consistency that was dense without being too firmly-pressed into the pan. The eyeshadow picked up well with a brush and applied evenly while the edges blended out with little effort. It wore nicely for 10 hours on me before creasing faintly.

Formula Overview
$25.00/0.04 oz. - $625.00 Per Ounce
Pat McGrath's eyeshadows are, generally, supposed to be "super-saturated" with "creamy, soft textures" and "extreme blendability and adherence without creasing." A lot of how well they perform (and to some degree, how they are supposed to be applied and marketed) depends on the type of shades, but by and large, the eyeshadows perform very much as they are described.
The brand released single eyeshadows in March 2019, and the shades have been consistent in quality, look, and feel. They are not removable, unfortunately, so one would have to depot like any other single eyeshadow--I tried using tweezers and lifting on several shades to no avail. The lids are held closed by a weak magnet, so I'm not sure they're as secure as most single eyeshadow compacts in my stash--I wish it really locked in, but there's definitely a magnet that pulls the lid down if it's within 2mm of the base.
The mattes are velvety, blendable, and dense without being thick or too heavy, and they have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation where a little can go a long way with some of the deeper and richer hues. The satin and pearl finishes are smooth, lightly creamy, and firmer but not dense or thick with good pigmentation, blendability, and easy application. The more metallic finishes tend to be softer, creamy, and smooth with a bit more denseness and no powderiness. The sparkly/glittery shades are often designed to be applied wet for richer coverage or intensity, which has largely been my experience. Most of the shades last between eight and nine hours.

Bronze
Bronze is a medium-dark copper with moderate, warm undertones and a subtle, metallic sheen. The pigmentation was opaque in one pass, which adhered well to bare skin for a smooth, even lay down of product that was easy to blend out along the edges. The texture was lightly creamy, smooth to the touch but didn’t have any powderiness in the pan. It lasted well for 10 hours before fading a bit on my skin.

Violet Void
Violet Voidis a deeper purple with cool undertones and flecks of cool, violet blue and warmer plum micro-sparkle over a more frosted finish. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, dense (but not stiff) texture that applied evenly to bare skin ad blended out well, but it wasn’t quite as yielding as other shades in the palette (and still a very good formula, just didn’t reach the highest of the highs I’ve come across from the brand!). The eyeshadow stayed on well for 10 hours before fading slightly.

Corruption
Corruption is a deep, reddened plum with warmer undertones and a subtle shift from pinkish-violet to copper to subtle green at the very edge and in the undertone. The texture was dense, slightly firmer in the pan, but I didn’t have any issues picking it up with a brush. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage that applied evenly to my lid and blended out well along the edges. There was slight fading after 10 hours of wear.

Ingredients
Silica, Mica, Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Zinc Stearate, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid, Boron Nitride, Talc, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Poloxamer 338, Iron Oxides (Ci 77491), Yellow 5 Lake (Ci 19140), Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide (Ci 77510).
Electron
Electron is a brighter, light purple with strong, warm pink undertones and cooler, pink-to-violet shifting shimmer. At times, the base came through and made it look almost plum-like, and other times, the shimmer dominated and gave it an icier, bluish-violet sheen. The texture was soft, more loosely pressed than the other shades in the palette though not to the point of causing fallout or excess product to kick up in the pan. It had opaque pigmentation that lasted well for 10 hours before there was slight fading.

Gold Standard
Gold Standard is a rich, medium-dark gold with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had rich color payoff that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out easily. The consistency was dense, creamy without being too thick or too firmly-pressed into the pan, so there wasn’t any fall out but it was easy to pick up with a brush. It stayed on nicely for 10 hours on me before I noticed slight fading.
