UOMA Beauty Carnival Black Magic Color Palette ($44.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a new, limited edition 10-shade palette that included five shimmery shades and five matte shades.
The shimmers were a little more prone to fallout, but they were easy enough to work with, especially if you’re someone who doesn’t mind using a dampened brush with your shimmers–they look fantastic applied that way. The mattes performed better than I anticipated in practice as they were pigmented, blendable (and buildable as necessary), and had good longevity.
Heads up, this palette is on sale for $22 until midnight CT tonight (3/19) at Ulta!

Barranquilla
Barranquilla is a rich, reddened copper with warm undertones and a smooth sheen. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, almost-cream like texture that felt like silk to the touch and applied beautifully to bare skin. The texture was one of the nicest I’ve come across in eyeshadows, and it had great application using a dry brush. It wore well for eight and a half hours before creasing faintly.

Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras is a medium, purple-berry with cooler undertones and flecks of pink and fuchsia sparkle. The texture was more firmly-pressed into the pan and felt like it was on the drier side, so I had to push and jab at the surface lightly to get an even amount of product onto my brush, though it seemed to yield more after a few uses. I’d recommend using it with a dampened brush to get the best payoff and smoothest adhesion, though. It had good color coverage that lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Bahia is a light-medium gold with strong, warm undertones and a sparkling finish. It had medium coverage that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. I’d recommend applying it with a dampened brush or fingertip to get better coverage and less fallout, though. The consistency felt a bit drier to the touch where the sparkles were more prone to coming away from the base product. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading but had a little bit of fallout over time.

Trinidad is a darker, olive green with a black base and lighter emerald green and gold sparkle. The texture was firmer to the touch but had a bit of creaminess to it, so it was thicker than it seemed initially. It had good color coverage in a single layer that was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer more. I had to be careful to press and pat it into place or else there was light fallout. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Tenerife is a light-medium copper with strong, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had rich pigmentation in a single layer, but the texture felt more loosely-pressed, so I’d recommend using a lighter hand to pick up product to avoid fallout. The eyeshadow applied well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of product that was blendable along the edges that really looked seamless on. It lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Notting Hill is a brighter, lighter orange with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had a soft, moderately powdery texture that gave me pause, but it had only light fallout during application but seemed to adhere rather evenly and was buildable without having to use a primer. It had opaque coverage that sheered out slightly to more semi-opaque coverage. This shade stayed on well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer with a moderately powdery consistency that seemed a little thin. The eyeshadow had opaque color payoff paired with a soft, lightly powdery texture that was slightly thin but wasn’t dry. The color applied evenly to my skin and blended out without much effort.
