Steel Magnolia

Tom Ford Beauty Steel Magnolia Lip Color Matte ($55.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with moderate,w arm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich color payoff that adhered evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging, but it didn’t sit as well on my lips as I would have liked.

The lipstick had a lightweight, lightly creamy texture that was dense and a bit more substantial, which, unfortunately, led to the product separating along some of my deeper lip lines. It wasn’t noticeable in person initially, but it settled more noticeably over its five-hour wear time. On the upside, the formula was lightly hydrating.

The formula is supposed to be "richly pigmented" and have a "luxurious, velvet matte finish." The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to fully opaque with lightweight, velvety textures--creamy enough to glide on nicely but not enough slip to feel slippery or slide around on the lips when worn. The wear time varied from shade to shade with richer shades lasting over six hours. The formula was comfortable to wear and often lightly hydrating. There's a vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

True Coral

Tom Ford Beauty True Coral Lip Color Matte ($55.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a neon, deeper reddish-coral with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single stroke, which applied somewhat evenly, but I was surprised it wasn’t perfect. These types of hues are often done right more often than something lighter.

The texture felt lightweight, creamy without being too slippery (almost more like a powdery cream), and was comfortable to apply and to wear. The color stayed on decently for five hours, but there was minor settling into my lip lines over time–the vibrancy made it harder to see it in person.
