Tom Ford Summer 2020 Lip Colors Reviews & Swatches (Part 2 of 2)

Tom Ford Beauty Primal Lip Color ($55.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark pink-coral with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in one layer, which adhered evenly and applied smoothly across my lips without tugging.

The consistency felt lightweight, creamy enough to glide on but not slide around during wear, and was fairly flattering to wear, though there was a touch of product in my deeper lip lines that was visible in the close-up photo (but not in person). It lasted well for five hours and felt moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed have an "ultra-creamy texture" with "smooth application" that will deliver "pure color." The lipstick tends to have semi-opaque to opaque coverage with a natural to luminous finish with some shades with very fine pearl and others with more metallic shimmer. The consistency is typically creamy, lightweight, and has moderate slip, which makes it comfortable to wear and to apply but is not the most long-lasting lipstick formula. The wear tends to range between four and six hours with some shades performing above and below that range. There's a vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Tom Ford Beauty Shocking Lip Color ($55.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a brighter, medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer, but there was enough slip that it didn’t apply as evenly as expected–there was a bit of product that looked mottled along the upper area of my lip and a touch of streakiness along the edges.

The consistency was creamy, smooth, and lightweight, which made it comfortable to apply and to wear. I was surprised it didn’t apply more flatteringly, though, as a lot of the brand’s lipsticks have done so for me, especially deeper/richer hues like this (usually, very light shades can be less consistent). It wore well for five hours and felt hydrating over time.

Tom Ford Beauty Velvet Cherry Lip Color ($55.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a muted, mediumd-ark red with subtle, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that didn’t build up to full coverage with a second layer.

The texture was lightweight, emollient without being slippery, and comfortable to work with as it didn’t tug on my lips during application. The formula didn’t emphasize my lip lines or natural lip texture, so it sat well on my lips, which was a real win given it wasn’t opaque and was a deeper color. It stayed on nicely for five hours and felt moisturizing while worn.
