Tom Ford Beauty Vervain Lip Color Matte ($55.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a dusty, medium-dark rosy mauve with neutral-to-cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It was richly pigmented with full coverage delivered in a single, fluid stroke.

The texture was smooth, lightly creamy, and a bit denser than the regular Lip Color formula, but it wasn’t heavy to wear, just a bit more velvety and substantial with less slip. There was a bit of product that sank into my deeper lip lines, and it was somewhat noticeable after two hours of wear in person. It lasted decently for four and a half hours and felt lightly moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to be "richly pigmented" and have a "luxurious, velvet matte finish." The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to fully opaque with lightweight, velvety textures--creamy enough to glide on nicely but not enough slip to feel slippery or slide around on the lips when worn. The wear time varied from shade to shade with richer shades lasting over six hours. The formula was comfortable to wear and often lightly hydrating. There's a vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Tom Ford Beauty Wild Ginger Lip Color Matte ($55.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark orange with moderate, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer, which only showed a bit of translucency along the inner area of my lips but was opaque in most places.

The texture was smooth, denser than the regular Lip Color formula, which gave it a more velvety feel as it glided across my lips without tugging. It applied evenly but there was a bit of product that separated into my lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable in person. It wore well for five hours and felt lightly hydrating.
